Indian Rocks Beach.

An IRB landmark since 1976. Order the grouper sandwich, sit on the deck, watch the beachgoers walk by.

Seafood + steaks

Local favorite — busy, lively, with a long menu. Stone crab in season.

Keegan's Seafood Grille

Tiny no-frills spot doing it right since 1985. Scallop bites, fish tacos, key lime pie.

Things to do

Plan your days

From doing-nothing on the sand to a half-day at an aquarium — within easy reach.

The beach itself

Right outside

Four miles of public access. Wide, soft, warm water. Sunsets are reliably postcard-grade.

John's Pass Village

15 min south

Boardwalk shopping, dolphin watching tours, parasailing, jet ski rentals — the most concentrated tourist activity nearby.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

25 min north

Home of Winter the dolphin (Dolphin Tale). Worth a half day, especially with kids.

Sand Key Park

20 min north

Quieter beach with shaded picnic areas, dog beach access nearby. Good for a low-key day.

Sunset at Kolb Park

5-min walk

Small park on the Intracoastal side with a fishing pier — best non-beach sunset spot in town.

Day trip: Tampa or St. Pete

30–45 min

Tampa for the zoo and downtown river walk; St. Pete for the Salvador Dalí Museum and pier.

Getting here

From the airport

Drive times assume light traffic. Rental car is the standard move — IRB is small, but the surrounding area rewards a car.

PIESt. Pete–Clearwater Intl
~20 min13 mi

Smallest, fastest in/out. Limited carrier mix (Allegiant, Sun Country). Often cheapest if your city is on its route map.

TPATampa International
~35 min23 mi

Largest, most flights, all major carriers. Newer terminal, easy car rentals on-site. Default choice for most renters.

MCOOrlando International
~1 hr 45 min110 mi

Worth it only if combining the trip with Disney/Orlando. Otherwise the drive eats into your stay.

SRQSarasota–Bradenton
~1 hr 15 min55 mi

Small and pleasant. Good option if flying into a quieter airport, with a scenic Sunshine Skyway Bridge drive.
